Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Begin of Tour Ambon (Molukken) - Ambon (D)

Upon arrival at Pattimura Airport in Ambon you are welcomed by your local guide. After check-in at your guesthouse, the rest of the afternoon is free at your leisure. Dinner and overnight in Kota Ambon.

Day 2: Ambon - Mahu/Saparua (B/L/D)

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, transfer to the Hurnala harbor to reach the fast ferry to Haria on Saparua island. The small island east of Ambon is also known as butterfly island because of its peculiar shape. Upon arrival on Saparua transfer to the guesthouse, where you will be welcomed with a traditional dance performance. Later tour the important sights of Saparua, like Fort Duursteede and the museum. Explore the city further after lunch. Dinner and overnight in Saparua.

Day 3: Mahu/Saparua (B/L/D)

The day starts with a visit to a local market. Afterward, drive to the village Booi in the southwest of Saparua. To reach the village, visitors have to climb steep stairs. From up there you can enjoy a view of the village and the sea. Next stop is a visit to the village Ouw. The people of Ouw are known for their traditional earthenware. Lunch en-route to the village Mahu. In this village, you will learn more about the significance of sago palms. It is an important source of food and building materials in the region. Later visit to the villages Itawaka and Noloth. Return to the guesthouse in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Saparua.

Day 4: Mahu/Saparua - Ambon (B/L/D)

After breakfast, check-out from the guesthouse. Today starts with a visit to a traditional fish farm in Haria and the Baeleo, the local assembly hall. Later return to Telehu on the island of Ambon. Lunch en-route. The village Waai is home to a clear water spring with holy eels. The villagers feed them with raw eggs. Arrival in Ambon City during the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Ambon.

Day 5: Ambon (B/L/D)

Breakfast at the hotel. Afterward, start today's sightseeing tour with a visit to Skip to learn more about the cultivation of cloves. The fragrant spice is important for many dishes and also the famous Indonesian clove cigarette kretek. Later visit the market in Madika and the graveyard in Tantui. Many Dutch and Australian soldiers lost their lives in a Japanese working camp at the site during World War II. The village Batu Merah is known for craft work made of mother-of-pearl. Lunch en-route. Visit to the Martha Christina Tiahahu monument on Karang Panjang hill. She was an important freedom fighter who died in 1818 in a prison of the Dutch colonists. Dinner and overnight in Kota Ambon.

Day 6: Ambon - End of Tour Ambon (Molukken) (B)

Breakfast in the hotel. The day is free at your leisure until the airport transfer.

Important information: All programmes and transfers by boat are on seat-in-coach base (group). You may be in a small group with other people.
Important information for traveler: Outside of highly touristic regions like Bali there is only a limited touristic infrastructure available. Regular flight connections, restaurants and hotels (all classes from simple to high end) are limited. Flight cancellations and delays are quite common. Please don't expect amenities like warm water, air-conditioning and even comfortable beds at all hotels and homestays during the round trip. This applies especially outside of bigger cities.

When travelling islamic countries there can be interference during the month of Ramadan, other high holidays and fridays.
Volcanism: The Sunda Islands and the Sunda Archipelago are of volcanic orgin and show high volcanic activity. Accrodingly it may be possible that tours, routings and activities (especially those involving or near volcanoes) need to be altered in case of high activity or order by the government.
