It it just a short drive from Jayapura Aiport to Nimbokrang, a small Transmigrasi settlement. The surrounding swamps and lowland forests are home to a vast number of endemic birds. The trails to the different briding sites around Nimbokrang are easy to travel, if you don't mind the heat and the mosquitos. It is possible to see lesser bird-of-paradise, the king bird-of-paradise, the 12 Wired bird-of-paradise and many other local bird species (see full list in the description).
Lake Habbema is situated approximately 30km from the Baliem Valley Resort. The Trekking tour starts with a 3 hrs trip by car until you reach the lake. The camp will be set up near the shore where you can enjoy the view of the lake and Mount Trikora. Lake Habbema is located in the middle of a large upland moor, surrounded by magical meadows full of dwarf cypresses, little tree ferns, rhododendron and many different types of orchid. The trip back to the resort will take 2.5 days.
Explore the jungles in the Sorong Regency during this trip. From a simple base camp in Klasow Valley you will look for cassowaries, Lesser Bird of Paradise and other endemic animals and plants.
Cenderawasih Bay is known for the local whale shark population. Explore the remote region where you can find the rare and gentle giants.
You can still find dense rainforests on the Vogelkop peninsula in West Papua. Start your trip in Manokwari on the eastern coast before you explore the hills of the Arfak range to find endemic birds like the Western Parotia, Magnificent Bird of Paradise or Superb Bird of Paradise.
Raja Ampat is known for its spectacular wildlife under and above the sea. Explore the jungle on Waigeo, the main island of the small archipelago, looking for the Red Bird of Paradise (Paradisaea rubra), Wilson Bird of Paradise (Cicinnurus respublica), and other endemic birds.
The Dani people live isolated in the highlands of West Papua (Irian Jaya), the most eastern and also the lagests province of Indonesia. Because of the remoteness of the valley the Dani survived a long time without contact to the modern world. Their culture and traditions remained unspoiled until the Baliem Valley was discovered in 1938. Today visitors can visit the small settlements and learn more about the Dani society and belief.

Cruising Raja Ampat must rate as one of life's most beautiful experiences in the world. This expert-ed cruise will show you the fascinating bird life of Waigeo, the beautiful reefs of Misool and (hopefully) the whale sharks at Triton Bay.
New Guinea is the world's second-largest island, after Greenland. Many of the island's tribes live in isolated valleys. Their cultures appear stone-aged to the modern visitor and therefore New Guinea is often perceived as the most intact natural history museum. This journey to the Baliem Valley in the heart of the Jayawijaya Mountains takes you to the ancient world of West Papua. (Irian Jaya). You will stay at the Baliem Valley Resort, a small resort with 15 traditional Honay bungalows. The days in the valley will be filled with exciting trekking tours, visits to tribe settlements and remote forests. Take part in one of the famous pig festivals and do a rafting tour on Baliem river.
Go on a journey to the most interesting regions in West Papua and visit the Korowai and Asmat tribes. Both groups were isolated for a long time. Their culture stayed unaffected by modern life for longer than most. This expedition takes you first to the Korowai tree houses in the jungle. Stay at the small settlement as a guest of the tribe. Learn from them about harvesting sago palms, hunting with a bow and creating traditional art. Follow the river to the coastal region where the Asmat live. Visit several men houses (jeu), the ritual centers of Asmat culture. Before you return to civilization you can acquire some of the handcrafted art objects.

Classic expedition to the Korowai tree house nomads.The Korowai live far away from civilization. During our tour we will cross the Korowai sector from Mabul in the West to Yanirumah in the East. We will spend many days in the forest visit several Korowai settlements in the Avium sector. As we plan a daily trekking of minimum 5 hours, a certain fitness is necessary to participate in this tour. Later, in Wamena, we will spend some interesting days in the area of the Dani tribe, in the highlands of Papua.
