Day 1: Begin of Tour Nabire (Irian Jaya/West Papua) - Sowa (D)
Kali Lemon BayThe driver will pick you up from the airport in Nabire. Your flight should not arrive later than 11:00, otherwise, you need to overnight in Nabire. It is a 2 - 3-hour drive to the region of the whale shark. If we are still on time, you can have your first encounter with the whale sharks today. A local speedboat will take you to the fishing platforms where the whale sharks come to feed the rejected fish. You will stay in Kali Lemon, which offer basic accommodation on a private beach. Drivers speak no/limited English, and a local guide from the resort will join when visiting the Whale Sharks.
Day 2: Sowa (B/L/D)
Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus)Return to the bagan fishing platform in the morning and afternoon. Sometimes up to 4 whale sharks can be seen at once. The best time for an encounter with these wild animals is during new moon. All meals at the guest house. Overnight at the guest house.
Day 3: Sowa - Nabire (B/L)
Kali Lemon BayIn the morning, you will have another trip to the whale sharks. Transfer back to Nabire after lunch. Check-in at a simple hotel in Nabire. Overnight in Nabire.
Day 4: Nabire - End of Tour Nabire (Irian Jaya/West Papua) (B)
Breakfast at the lodging, and transfer back to the airport.

Important information for traveler: Outside of highly touristic regions like Bali there is only a limited touristic infrastructure available. Regular flight connections, restaurants and hotels (all classes from simple to high end) are limited. Flight cancellations and delays are quite common. Please don't expect amenities like warm water, air-conditioning and even comfortable beds at all hotels and homestays during the round trip. This applies especially outside of bigger cities.
