Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Begin of Tour Samarinda (Kalimantan) - Sangatta (D)

Upon arrival at Samarinda airport then drive to Sangatta by car for about 3 hours. Arrival at the hotel in the late afternoon. Check-in at hotel. The rest of the day is free at your leisure. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in hotel.

Day 2: Sangatta - Kutai Nationalpark (B/L/D)

In the morning, transfer to Mentoko river by a canoe to get Kutai National Park. Arrive at camp then begin the jungle trekking to observe the orangutans, sun bear, proboscis monkeys, etc. Free time after lunch. Go on another trek to explore the jungle later in the afternoon. Overnight at the Jungle Lodge.

Day 3: Kutai Nationalpark - Samarinda (B/L/D)

Morning trek to observe the wild Orang Utans and other animals in the park. Continue to Samarinda for visit a Dayak village of Pampang to observe the way of people life. Check-in hotel and overnight. Meals provided.

Day 4: Samarinda - End of Tour Samarinda (Kalimantan) (B)

After breakfast free time until transfer to Samarinda Airport for onward journey.

Important information for traveler: Outside of highly touristic regions like Bali there is only a limited touristic infrastructure available. Regular flight connections, restaurants and hotels (all classes from simple to high end) are limited. Flight cancellations and delays are quite common. Please don't expect amenities like warm water, air-conditioning and even comfortable beds at all hotels and homestays during the round trip. This applies especially outside of bigger cities.

Volcanism: The Sunda Islands and the Sunda Archipelago are of volcanic orgin and show high volcanic activity. Accrodingly it may be possible that tours, routings and activities (especially those involving or near volcanoes) need to be altered in case of high activity or order by the government.
